Faith Lavender is a graduate of Fountain Lake Charter High School. Having participated in
4-H and FFA for the last 13 years, Faith has learned that farming and serving others go hand in hand. She plans to attend National Park College in the fall to begin her pursuit of a career as a Veterinary Technologist. |
Gavin Thomson is a graduate of Lake Hamilton High School. Through the many years spent working on his grandfather's cattle farm and volunteering with the US Army Corps of Engineers and Project Forester, Gavin has developed a passion for conserving and maintaining the land for future generations. Gavin will attend Stephen F. Austin University in the fall to pursue a degree in Forest and Natural Resources Management.

Myia Shroff graduated from Lakeside High School. From a young age, Myia has had a deep love for the outdoors and the animals who call it home. This connection had led her to pursue a career as a Wildlife Biologist. Myia will attend the University of Arkansas this fall.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The GCCD is proud to award Weston Dobyns with our 2021-2022 academic scholarship. Weston is a 2021 graduate of Lake Hamilton High School. He will attend Henderson State University and major in business. Weston will then pursue a future in farming. He plans to raise 100% organic beef and operate his business by using solar panel energy and drip irrigation in order to conserve our natural resources.

The GCCD is proud to award Brynna Buhrmester with our 2020-2021 academic scholarship. Brynna is a 2020 graduate of Lake Hamilton High School. She will attend Southern Arkansas University in the fall to pursue Agriculture Education and Athletic training degrees.

2022 Lake Hamilton High School Honor graduate, Evy Hafer, was recently awarded the GCCD Academic Scholarship in the amount of $500. Having spent the majority of her life living on a farm, Evy developed a love for animals and agriculture. This fall she will attend the University of Arkansas Honors College where she will major in Animal Science at the Dale Bumpers School of Agriculture. Evy's future plans include pursuing a career as a large animal veterinarian.

Hot Springs World Class High School graduate Cooper Jack Bull was chosen as the recipient of the 2023 GCCD Academic Scholarship. Cooper will attend the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville this fall. He plans to obtain his Bachelor's degree in Horticulture. After completing his studies, Cooper's ultimate goal is to establish his own farm and laboratory where he will experiment with innovative farming techniques that are both environmentally friendly and economically viable.
